Laurel Mayor Issues Statement on Laurel Lakes Path
Facing heat from community and competitor, Moe retreats stance on lake path.

You shall pass.
At least that is what Laurel Mayor Craig A. Moe is now saying to residents who were upset over the path earlier in the summer.
In a letter issued through his campaign treasurer to residents, Moe said "the path is open and will remain open. It will not be closed as reported by Mayoral Candidate Mike Sarich."

Moe's statement marks a decisive retreat from his position a few months back when the lake was closed due to security concerns from residents closest to the path. But after facing pressure from Sarich, who lobbied a campaign against the closure, the city conceded to reopening the path until community members could reach a decision on what to do.
