Laurel Warns Residents of BG&E Imposters
City receives complaints of fake Baltimore Gas and Electric reps entering homes.

The City of Laurel is warning residents to be on the look out for individuals entering residential homes claiming to be representatives from Baltimore Gas and Electric Company.
The motive for the intrusions is unclear.
The city has received complaints from residents that well-dressed individuals are coming to doors and informing residents that BG&E over-charged them on their gas and electric bills and they are due refunds.

The individuals are requesting to come into to homes to check the meters and then requesting use of a home phone. They say the residents will receive a refund check.
In a statement, Mayor Craig Moe advises residents that BG&E employees do not come to home doors without notice, nor do they request to enter homes or use telephones.

Residents who have had an encounter with the individuals are advised to call BG&E customer service line, 800-685-0123, and inform them of the incident. City of Laurel residents may also call the Laurel Police non-emergency number 301-498-0092
