🌱 Local TV Star Dies + BSU Professor Examines Deadly Encounters
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Laurel.

Hello, people of Laurel! It's me again, Alexis Goring, your host of the Laurel Daily.
First, today's weather:
Partly sunny. High: 64 Low: 45.
Here are the top three stories today in Laurel:
- Pat Goss, who hosted the "Goss' Garage" segment on the TV show MotorWeek for 41 seasons, has died. Goss served as the resident master technician on the show, which airs on Maryland Public Television. "I think what made Pat really resonate with viewers and consumers was his ability to explain what was going on with your car and that was what we loved about him on the show," MotorWeek creator and host John Davis said. (WTOP)
- J R Sanchez Racing Stable's Shake Em Loose, a 59-1 upset stakes as a winner in his first race off the claim three starts back. His effort turned back even-money favorite Joe through the stretch to capture the $100,000 Private Terms by 1 ¾ lengths Saturday at Laurel Park. (Past The Wire)
- About 1,000 civilians are killed in the United States by law enforcement officers each year. James Hyman, assistant professor of public administration at Bowie State University, developed a new system that may be used to help local leaders, the faith community, social justice crusaders, and the police better understand how and why deadly encounters occur —especially with African-American men. (Bowie State)
