Main Street Trick or Treat 2017 In Laurel

What you need to know for Main Street's Trick or Treat 2017 in Laurel.

From The Laurel PD: Grab your Trick or Treat bags, dress your little ones in this year’s popular superhero or cartoon costumes and plan on attending the Laurel Board of Trade’s Main Street Trick or Treat, being held October 26, 2017, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm!

Mayor Craig A. Moe has announced the City of Laurel will work jointly with the Laurel Board of Trade to make Trick or Treat on Main Street safe for your little ones this year.

The Laurel Police Department and Public Works will be closing parts of Main Street to vehicular traffic from 6pm to 8pm for the event on October 26, 2017:

· Main Street will be closed in its entirety from 4th Street to Route 1;

· Eastbound Main Street will be closed from 5th Street to Route 1; and

· Tolson and Fetty Alleys will remain open to allow access for businesses and residents in that area of Main Street.

Laurel Police Chief Richard McLaughlin is reminding parents that children must be accompanied by an adult and no pets will be allowed.

Other ways to make this event safe and enjoyable:

· Be aware of vehicular traffic and follow traffic laws;

· Provide children with flashlights to carry for lighting or have glow sticks as part of their costume;

· When choosing a costume, use light-colored material and stay away from billowing or long trailing fabric. If you are making your own costume, choose material that won't easily ignite if it comes into contact with heat or flame;

· If your child is wearing a mask, make sure the eye holes are large enough so they can see out;

· Report any suspicious activity; and

· ALWALYS examine your children’s candy before they eat it.
