New Resource Center Has Groundbreaking

Apartments and social services for people who are homeless

Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center Executive Director Andrea Ingram (fifth from the r.) joined other community leaders at the recent groundbreaking of the Leola Dorsey Community Resource Center, which will be managed by Grassroots. The new facility will replace the current resource center in Jessup. It will provide crisis intervention services and meals, showers, healthcare services, laundry facilities, computer access and a variety of social services to people who are homeless. The building will also include 35 efficiency apartments managed by the Howard County Housing Commission and Volunteers of America, a national nonprofit organization. The center will be named in memory of Howard County trailblazer and civil rights advocate Leola Dorsey who died in 2009.
