• Undocumented immigrant who resided in Maryland dies in ICE custody in Louisiana (fox5dc.com) — A man who had been living in Laurel died last month while in ICE custody at a Louisiana medical center after being found in medical distress at a detention facility. Federal officials say the cause of death is still unknown pending an autopsy, while Sen. Chris Van Hollen is calling for an independent investigation into the circumstances.

• Marvin Bonilla Martinez arrested for Vehicular Homicide of Shana Battle — Congress Heights on the Rise (congressheightsontherise.com) — A woman from Laurel, 45-year-old Shana Battle, was identified as the pedestrian killed when an Audi SUV drove into a Northeast D.C. park in July. Police say a suspect has now been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, and they are still asking anyone with information about the crash to contact investigators.
