  1. David E. Talbert, PGCPS alum and award-winning filmmaker, was recently inducted into the PGCPS Alumni Hall of Fame. Talbert hosted a recording session and masterclass with high school media arts students. Participants learned hands-on lessons while operating cameras, troubleshooting audio and recording b-roll from behind the scenes. (PGCPS)
  2. Prince George's County police said while EMTs found a 16-year-old boy dying outside of a townhouse in Upper Marlboro, he wasn't shot there. Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks said she is praying for the boy whose family identified him as Quincy Barnes Dyson. Police Chief Malik Aziz said it has been a deadly year for teenagers in Prince George's County. (WTOP)
  3. Community Clean Up will happen Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Members of St. Mark's Methodist Church will lead the effort. All are welcome to join in this community fellowship project. (Facebook - Laurel Police Department)

  • Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gaugin: A Turbulent Creativity — Attend this afternoon lecture by David Gariff that explores the differing personalities and approaches to modern painting espoused by Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) and Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) during the brief time they lived and worked together in the yellow house in Arles. This lecture will also consider some of the latest theories about Van Gogh's death as well as new information about Gauguin's final days. (12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.)
  • LAUGH. Live Standup Comedy Open Mic — Every Wednesday, there is a gathering in the event room of Nottinghams's, in Columbia. Comics both professional and just starting out will showcase their acts. Please arrive 30 minutes early and ask for Seal Savoy or Phil Valdes, in the event room. Food and drink served all night.
