PGCPS BOE Members Might Be Censured Or Removed + MD Picnic Sites

Good morning, people of Laurel! It's me again, Alexis Goring, your host of the Laurel Daily.

First, today's weather: Partly cloudy throughout the day. High: 85 Low: 60.


Here are the top five stories in Laurel today:

  1. Install renewable energy systems on existing and new Prince George's County government and school buildings. Construct more walking and bicycle trails and increase telework opportunities for workers as a way to decrease vehicular traffic. These are three of the 27 recommendations proposed by a county Climate Action Commission on ways to improve the environment in this county. (The Washington Informer)
  2. Horsemen should be back training at Laurel Park by August 10. The final day of training at Timonium will be August 7, with horsemen permitted to return to their Laurel Park barns the following day. (theracingbiz.com)
  3. Maryland has many beautiful parks and gardens to visit where you can enjoy a picnic, take the kids to play, or just enjoy a relaxing walk.   5. An ethics panel within the Prince George's County Board of Education has called for a number of school board members to be censured or removed from their seats. A school board spokesperson told WTOP that the ethics panel presented findings Wednesday during the board's executive session, which was closed to the public. The board voted to "concur" with the panel's report and recommendations. (WTOP)

  • African Drumming: Community Classes — The Performing Arts Center for African Cultures, Inc. (PACA) invites you to use a variety of drums and other percussion instruments during musical sessions that are improvised and co-created by the participants.
