Rains Wash Out Bridge; Roads Closed for Damage
Tuesday's heavy rains have washed out at least one bridge in Brandywine in Prince George's County and damaged a few roads.

Heavy rains have washed out a bridge in Brandywine, prompting Prince George’s County police to close the road until further notice.
Police said the bridge, which is located on South Springfield Road, was washed away by Tuesday’s heavy rains, WJLA reports.
The police department’s Twitter feed showed several feet of water over a road on Tuesday. As the water subsided damage could be seen. Surratts Road / Frank Tippett Road is also closed due to high water damage until further notice, authorities said.

Tuesday’s storms brought record rainfall to sections of Maryland, D.C. and Virginia.
Green Haven in Anne Arundel County received more than 10 inches of rain, while Baltimore-Washington International Airport saw a record six inches of rain, WJLA reports. Comparatively, Dulles International Airport and Reagan National Airport received 1.13 and 1.16 inches of rain, respectively.

The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation closed Brock Bridge Road at the Prince George’s/Anne Arundel County line, Sunnyside Avenue at the Indian Creek Bridge in Beltsville, Surratt Road at Summit Creek in Clinton and Contee Road at Mayfair Road in Laurel due to high water caused by the heavy rainfall. Crews will reopen the roadways after safety evaluations have been conducted. Drivers should take alternate routes.
