- Maryland has started accepting applications from some potential sports betting hosts, including casinos, professional sports teams and race tracks. Maryland Lottery and Gaming director John Martin said that they are "actively working to expedite the process." Currently, only entities that were specifically named in the state's sports betting legislation passed this spring are eligible to submit applications through the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission's eLicensing platform. - According to Mayor Craig A. Moe, the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA), in cooperation with the Prince George's County Health Department, will expand mosquito control services in multiple areas due to a public health concern over the potential for mosquito-borne diseases, such as West Nile Virus. Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) truck-based spraying to control adult mosquitoes is planned for the evening of Sept. 26 after 9:00 p.m. in Laurel.(City of Laurel)
- Several members of the Prince George's County Board of Education met online three weeks ago, hoping to resolve a stalemate over the hiring of a new attorney. They agreed to recommend that the full board go with a temporary hire, someone who could handle some legal matters, but they couldn't agree on how to procure more permanent counsel. The subcommittee meeting of the board was mostly cordial until member Edward Burroughs III accused board Chair Juanita D. Miller of gaming a prior attempt to hire an attorney. (WTOP)

- Movement Magic — Movement Magic is a collaboration between Dr. Harnoor Singh and Halsey Payne. Harnoor is a physical therapist who will be starting the event off with a Foundations In Functional Movement class, followed by a curated and cathartic 2 hour DJ set performed by Halsey for the Ecstatic Dance. Join this playful, educational and inspirational experience with the intention of bringing the attendees a heightened sense of appreciation for the human body! (5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.)
