Third Teen Charged In Laurel Shooting Death: Police
Police said that three teens have been charged in the death of Xavier Young, 14.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Three teens have been charged in the death of a 14-year-old boy who was shot in Laurel last weekend. Xavier Young, 14, was killed in what police said was a drug-related shooting.
Young died Monday, Oct. 30. He had been shot around 11 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, when a group of teens met in the 9000 block of North Laurel Road for a drug deal, police said.
Melvin Jacome, 15, of the 6800 block of Ridge Road in Hyattsville, has been charged with first and second-degree murder and first-degree assault in connection with the death, police reported on Friday, Nov. 3.

He was arrested Thursday, Nov. 2, in Prince George's County and is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.

- Luis Gerardo Ordonez, 19, of the 9200 block of Redbridge Court
- Francisco J. Rodriguez, 16, of the 9000 block of North Laurel Road
Police allege Jacome, Ordonez and Rodriguez were part of a coordinated drug deal during which there was an altercation and one shot was fired from a car window. The suspects left in a black sedan, officials reported.
Through investigation, police said they learned Ordonez and Rodriguez were involved in the shooting, and authorities found them in a black Nissan Altima early Monday morning on Harvest View Court in Ellicott City. There was a handgun in the car, and the suspects were arrested, police said.
