"Understanding Cognitive Assessments" Offered at Vantage Point

Residences at Vantage Point is offering a free program, “Understanding Cognitive Assessments,” for social workers and certified case managers on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 9 a.m.-noon, at the continuing care retirement community in Downtown Columbia. The program has been pre-approved to provide continuing education credit.

Participants will learn the pros and cons of common types of cognitive assessments, how to use cognitive assessment results to impactcare recommendations, and how other medical diagnoses may affect cognitive assessments.

The presenter is Mikki Firor, a gerontologist and a dementia expert. President of Trovato, LLC, a dementia consulting company, Firor holds abachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Gerontology with an expertise in dementia and a minor in counseling. Her background
includes direct experience with families, professionals, and people living with dementia. Her specialty is non-pharmacological behavioral intervention and education.

Residences at Vantage Point was founded in 1990 and is a nonprofit serving people age 60 and above. Managed by Life Care Services, the community includes a variety of residential living apartments, an array of on-site services and amenities as well as providing on-site long-term
