Community Corner

Absense of Safety Wall at IMMEDIATE Corner of MidCounty & Montgomery Village Avenue

Just heard riveting hammer (heavy-duty) at corner of MidCounty and the Village Avenue.  Walked up to speak to employees of Transportation/Department of Public Works to see what the deal is since the Village and residents in Village are up-in-arms regarding further extension of MidCounty anywhere near their communities but have never voiced concern about the already, existing MidCounty Highway.  Never a 'whisper' when it involved the original section of MidCounty construction dividing communities or contributing to noise and air pollution!  But that's another long story.  One of my other concerns/pursuits has been a safety wall for the corner of MidCounty and the Village Avenue...even soliciting what I hoped would be the understanding and concern of State Senator.  Told wall by Department of Transportation is not a necessary priority even though it involves particularly one South Village community that sits on that HUB with traffic congestion on the increase from commuters from Shady Grove Road.  Community is divided only by a small grassy knoll!  Again, tis no wonder many residents (in specific South Village areas) feel like 'orphans' when it comes to the same concerns regarding their well-being.

Anyway, MC Dot Traffic not present, unfortunately, for long-overdue safety wall.  They are digging up and moving existing sidewalks back a number of feet further into this one referenced SV community and there to install new traffic lights.  And, as we spoke, commercial cargo truck after commercial cargo truck passed us by.

Guess we will wait till truck or tire catapults into community and kills at least three or more people.  That's usually how Department of Transportation (and their "engineers') operate, isn't it!  Rhetorical!  Need to have a few dead bodies lying around first!  Hummm!
