Silver Spring Woman Identified In Fatal Pedestrian Crash

Montgomery County police said an 83-year-old Silver Spring woman died after an April 16 crash in Rockville.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Thuong Luu Thai, an 83-year-old Silver Spring woman, was identified as the pedestrian killed last week after being hit by a car.

The Montgomery County Police Department said the fatal pedestrian collision took place Thursday on North Horners Lane near Southlawn Lane in Rockville. Emergency crews were called to the scene at about 3:40 p.m.

At the scene, responders found Thai in the roadway with serious injuries, police said. She was taken to an area hospital, where she later died.

Preliminary findings indicate the driver of a black 2011 Acura RDX was traveling northbound on North Horners Lane when the vehicle struck Thai near the intersection with Southlawn Lane, according to police.

The driver, who remained at the scene, has not been identified by police. It's also unclear if any charges are being considered in the case.

Police said Thai’s path of travel remains under investigation, as investigators say there were no signs of impairment.
