American Values and Whetstone Yahoo Groups

Whetstone is the tree capitol of Montgomery Village. Here in Whetstone we have a tale of two cities. One tolerates freedom of speech. The other sees violations of political correctness behind every tree.

I am talking about two Yahoo Groups.

1. The one based on American values of freedom of speech is the Whetstone Neighborhood Watch. The Group Discussion states, "We have a great community and we want to keep it that way. In our community, all residents should feel safe and secure.The goal of our Neighborhood Watch program is to maintain safety and security in our community. We work together to support our local police department by being their eyes and ears. And we put to use the common sense advice we receive from the police to make our homes, cars and neighborhood more difficult for criminals to penetrate.The Whetstone Neighborhood Watch group is where we share and discuss information on security issues in our community. All residents are invited to join and participate."

2. The other employing the dictatorial practice of censorship is the Whetstone Group. The Group Discussion announcement simply beckons, "A bulletin board to link the residents of Whetstone, in Montgomery Village, Maryland". This over reaching governance style of control leads to contention and dissatisfaction.

Emerging from this dysfunctional atmosphere is a third Yahoo Group entitled Whetstone_Matters. The Group Discussion announcement states, "Whetstone_Matters is intended to be an open forum on news, events, and issues that matter to the residents of Whetstone, the crown jewel of Montgomery Village, Maryland".
