JACKPOT MOVIE REVIEWS: Wrath of the Titans
'Titans' sequel inspires wrath of the moviegoer.

Just when I thought John Carter was a lock for the worst-film-of-2012 award, Wrath of the Titans plodded into movieplexes across the country on Friday.
As the saying goes, "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me." As someone who absolutely despised the first remake of Clash of the Titans, I have no idea why this film even exists. Though the trailers offered a glimmer of hope, this film actually turned out to be worse than the 2010 remake of the 1981 cult classic.
Sam Worthington returns as a decidedly dull and unlikable Perseus. He is now fighting Hades (Ralph Fiennes) who has captured his father, Zeus (Liam Neeson). All three are incredibly good actors in the right circumstance. Neeson and Fiennes seem to be giving it the old college try, but Worthington gives us nothing to root for. All the actors here miss the mark. Even Bill Nighy and Danny Huston manage to botch their roles.

More than the lackluster acting, the worst part of the film is that absolutely... nothing... happens. And I don't mean nothing we care about; I mean nothing nothing.
Compounding the letdown, Wrath of the Titans' 3D is just as bad as its predecessor. The first film made movie-goers wonder if 3D is even worth the extra money, and this one will put that question to order again. Even projecting it onto a gargantuan iMax screen feels like nothing more than a cash grab.

I remember when something came out in 3D and it meant something. Nowadays, everything comes out in 3D and it's all awful. In this case, Wrath of the Titans is awful, despicable and quite possibly one of the worst films I've ever seen. With no visual stunnery, bogged down by a tedious narrative and plagued by horrific acting, you'd be wise to save your money on something far more enjoyable — like, say, a trip to the dentist.
