Yoga develops strength and flexibility. You don't have to be flexible or strong to start yoga. Practice will give you that.
I kept returning to yoga because in the final relaxation pose when you rest on your back -- palms up, eyes closed, breathing easy -- the feeling of ease and peace was amazing. I wanted more.

I started seeing my body change. I became more toned. I became stronger. I became more flexible. At first, I could barely touch my knees. Soon, I could touch my toes.
So for me yoga is exercise and it grounds me in a way that helps me connect to my spirit and it has helped me become more aware of how I am and who I am. It is not a religion to me yet it deepens my faith.
