I have tried to convince editors of both PATCH & Gazette over past number of years to gather the 'disturbing' statistics of crime @ specific area of 18300-18400 Lost Knife (Cider Mill Apartments which is considered South Montgomery Village). Thought gathering that information would be an eye opener for all of us, keep us alert regarding personal safety & possibly become a priority for both Montgomery Village Foundation & Gaithersburg City Hall since the dividing line between the two entities (Montgomery Village and Gaithersburg) is merely a matter of yards, merely crossing the street. That location for at least the past 12-15 has been a crime magnet and most disturbing is the 'fact' that crimes are becoming more brazen and violent. Since no one wants to take this on, thought I would begin now documenting that area & try to remember to post on weekly basis. And, believe me, such does occur on weekly basis (search any and all Gazette weekly editions for past 15 years) which is what initially prompted me to solicit interest from at least the news organizations. Neither PATCH nor the Gazette have wanted to take that bit of research on, not the least bit interested in providing that information to the general populace who live, work and shop in that area. Yet, the 'criminal beat' continues @ Cider Mill (across, as well, from the Notorious Transit Center). There is also a Day Care in that area (also a part of South Montgomery Village Property). I sure wouldn't want my child or grandchild in a daycare facility anywhere near that location.
