Montgomery County Under Winter Storm Watch

The National Weather Service gave advance notice about storm system.

A winter storm watch is in effect for several areas, including Montgomery County, from Sunday night to Monday evening.

The National Weather Service issued the watch Saturday afternoon; a watch provides advance notice that there may be significant snow, sleet and ice accumulations that could make travel hazardous.

Carroll, Frederick and Montgomery counties and parts of Virginia were included in the watch area.

The watch calls for 4 to 6 inches of snow.

Snow will start Sunday night and continue through Monday afternoon, with the heaviest snowfall anticipated between midnight and 8 a.m. Monday.

Snow-covered roads and limited visibility will impact travel, according to the weather service.
