The Top 50 Elementary Schools in Maryland, According to Niche (mocoshow.com) — Families in Montgomery Village will be glad to know Montgomery County Public Schools claimed 31 of Niche's top 50 public elementary spots statewide, including six in the top 10. The rankings, based on federal data and parent reviews, highlight strong schools across the county that many local students attend. MCPS now holds 16 of Maryland's top 25 elementary positions.
   

2. Conversations with Our Candidates… Our Voices Matter (mocoshow.com) — Montgomery Village voters are invited to an in-person, nonpartisan forum on Oct. 15 featuring at-large Montgomery County Council candidates, designed to let residents hear directly from those seeking to represent them. Hosted by local NCNW sections and partners, the event offers moderated discussion, audience questions, and voter education resources to help neighbors prepare for the upcoming election.
   

3. About 119,000 Montgomery County seniors to get $90 Medicare checks, feds say (mymcmedia.org) — Thousands of Montgomery Village seniors on Original Medicare Part B may soon see a one-time $90 payment to help cover their October premium, with most deposits expected around Oct. 8. Not everyone qualifies, so residents are urged to confirm eligibility and payment status through Medicare, Social Security, or the county's free State Health Insurance Assistance Program hotline.
   

4. Mock traffic stops in Montgomery County aim to help drivers with disabilities (fox5dc.com) — Montgomery County police are running mock traffic stops to help drivers with autism and other disabilities practice what to do when they see flashing lights, a resource available to Montgomery Village residents too. Partnering with Pathfinders for Autism, officers and participants rehearse communication, reduce anxiety, and learn about tools like Maryland's new blue butterfly license indicator for non-apparent disabilities.
