The MVF President’s disappointing rant on Patch.com is troubling. In it, he singled out a half-dozen Villagers who persistently raise issues of concern, request facts surrounding these issues, and serve as watchdogs on MVF activities. I am proud to say that I was included in the list of offenders.
His self-pitying pathos was evident in the blog. In it, he exclaimed, "I as well as the MVF Board are volunteers working on behave [sic] of the residents of Montgomery Village." Not good with words, he said "behave" when he meant "behalf". Perhaps he sensed his own misbehavior in authoring such a blog.
His profanity-laced rant was over the top. In it, he plotted a course for redemption for these errant Villagers in saying, "When I start seeing these people attending the number of meetings that we all attend and work hard at, I just might give them some creditably [sic]." Still not good with words, he said "creditably" when he meant "credibility". Perhaps he sensed that credibility is illusive with such ideas.
Not new, this troubling behavior surfaced in earlier comments on other blogs where his stinging comments included:

a. I know exactly where some of the nuts in our community are.
b. Let me put it this way, I don't care what you all say.

c. When are you getting out?
Such unrestrained behavior invites consequences. The vaunted Village culture of civility and the MV brand of flourishing become tarnished.
1. To what extent do the comments fulfill the criteria for a dignified, civil, and respectful culture of expression?
2. How does this rant burnish the MV brand of flourishing?
And to what end and for what purpose…simply to discourage activist Village residents from searching for the facts, pursuing the truth, and expressing themselves! Disappointing.
