Now that the competitions are done and the locker rooms have fallen silent, Patch is looking back on a spring season that picked up right where winter left off: Wolverine athletics continuing its upward ascent.
The best season in years for both boys' and girls' lacrosse. A boys’ track team, loaded with young talent, that placed second in its region after taking the county title last year. A softball team that posted a gutsy playoff upset. Boys’ and Co-ed volleyball teams that improved drastically through the course of the season, with both making the playoffs.
Watkins Mill’s student-athletes found that success in spite of sometimes trying circumstances: the heavy rains wreaked havoc on schedules, teams coped with short rosters and disputed officiating cost the Wolverines more than one win.
