The Arc Baltimore Honors Faye Blue

The Arc of Baltimore recently presented its Special Appreciation Award to North Baltimore resident Faye Blue.

The Arc of Baltimore recently presented its Special Appreciation Award for the individual who renders truly outstanding assistance to the organization to North Baltimore resident Faye Blue, a rehabilitation technician at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital’s Curtis National Hand Center.

Since 2012, Blue has mentored 14 interns placed at the Center as part of The Arc Baltimore’s Project SEARCH program. Dedicated to the success of every intern she has supervised, she invests time learning about each intern and carefully observes their work to understand their skills and where they need additional coaching.

One of her interns, Cara, said, “She encouraged me out of my comfort zone. Ms. Faye expects you to work when it’s time to work and not to stand around looking at celebrity gossip magazines.” Another intern, Lee, said, “She always answers any question I have. She is a supervisor and a friend.”

And Damian said, “She taught me lifelong lessons.” Damian is now employed at the Hand Center and gives Ms. Faye all the credit. In all likelihood, Faye gives all the credit to Damian.
