Baltimore Circuit Court Closed After Building Fire

Jurors should report to location other than Mitchell courthouse, judicial officials say.

BALTIMORE, MD – Due to a fire in the basement, the Clarence M. Mitchell Jr. Courthouse in Baltimore will be closed on Wednesday, April 27, court officials said Wednesday morning.

Carry-over jurors should report to room 110 at Courthouse East, the building across the street.

The fire that broke out Tuesday evening was related to underground utilities, according to Baltimore emergency management officials, who said BGE remained at the scene assessing damage.

On Wednesday morning, Fayette Street was closed between North Calvert and St. Paul streets as Baltimore Public Works officials worked on restoration and cleanup efforts, officials reported. It reopened as of 9:15 a.m.

Cases and court services will be temporarily moved across the street to the Courthouse East building at 111 North Calvert Street. Those with questions about the location of their cases may call 410-396-4916. Information will also be posted on the Baltimore City Circuit Court's website.
