CLOSE ENCOUNTERS of the THIRD KIND: Summer Classic Movies at the Senator Theatre!
This week, catch CLOSE ENCOUNTERS on the BIG screen on August 12, 15 & 16 and help support our neighborhood schools with a supply drive!
Join us this week at the historic Senator Theatre as our Summer Classic Movie Series continues with Steven Spielberg’s 1977 sci-fi blockbuster, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND (PG) on the big screen in the spectacular main auditorium! Starring Richard Dreyfuss, Francois Truffaut and Teri Garr, Spielberg’s humanistic postmodern masterpiece depicts the life-transforming experiences of a man who becomes an impassioned participant in an otherworldly spectacle.
On Wednesday August 12th at 7pm, the screening will feature a special introduction by Christopher Llewellyn Reed, Professor of the Department of Film/Video at Stevenson University and a regular film review contributor to WYPR’s 88.1 FM’s Midday with Dan Rodricks show. More: chrisreedfilm.com
This weekend, help support our neighborhood schools at the encore matinee presentation on Sunday August 16th at 10am -- or the special $5 Family Matinee showing on Saturday August 15th at 10am -- by bringing a donation of school supplies and enjoy a free space treat from our friends at La Cakerie in Towson!

BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE: To Benefit Govans Elementary School and OrchKids Music Education Program. Supplies needed: loose leaf paper, pencils, markers, pens, crayons, erasers, glue sticks, binders, tab dividers, calculators, pencil cases, construction paper, erasers, spiral notebooks, colored pencils, backpacks, highlighters, pocket folders, graph paper, rulers, index cards and scissors.
The Classic Series continues next month with a special one-night presentation of A RAISIN IN THE SUN on September 9th, a $5 Family Matinee of HOOK on September 12th -- and a 30th Anniversary celebration of THE GOONIES on September 16th, with encore weekend shows on September 19th and 20th!
