Book Signing for "One of Us"

Mark Osteen, author of “One of Us: A Family’s Life with Autism,” to Sign Books at the Ivy Bookshop on February 5

 WHO:             Mark Osteen, professor of English at Loyola University Maryland and author of an award-winning new book, “One of Us: A Family’s Life with Autism” (University of Missouri Press, November 2010).

WHAT:           The Ivy Bookshop will host a book signing and opportunity to talk with Osteen about his memoir, “One of Us: A Family’s Life with Autism.” This powerful book, which was endorsed by Temple Grandin, recounts the struggles and triumphs of life with a son who has severe autism. Excerpts have already received the Dr. O. Marvin Lewis Writing Award from Weber: The Contemporary West. More information about the book and its author is available at http://www.oneofusbook.com.

 WHY:              Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability, and it affects one per cent of children ages three to 17 in the United States. It is estimated that more than one million Americans live with an autism disorder.
