Man Soliciting Girl Online Charged in Sting: Police

Anne Arundel County Police say the Baltimore man thought he was meeting a 14-year-old girl for sex.

A sting by Anne Arundel County Police investigators who communicated online with people who solicited young girls for sex has resulted in the arrest of a Baltimore man.

The investigator posed online as a 14-year-old girl, and police say the suspect suggested they meet for a sexual encounter. On Wednesday, the suspect went to meet who he believed was a 14-year-old at an undisclosed location in Anne Arundel County, according to authorities.

Once the suspect arrived at the meeting location, he was taken into custody. Police say the suspect is Johnathan Michael Kirtz, 24, of 2818 Roselawn Ave. in Baltimore. Kirtz was charged with sexual solicitation of a minor.

Detectives from the Child Abuse Unit participated with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in the investigation.

Kirtz is being held on $40,000 bond.
