Nag Champa :: DJ Underdog

FRINGE MUSIC AT THE TRINIDAD - FREE! Thursday January 21st at 9pm

DJ Underdog is global sentient, American tourist, never not working, God without religion, one and none, everywhere and nowhere.

Nag Champa is a project two years in the making. It’s essentially a futuristic-funk fusion band, where the lead instrument is a laptop. Nag Champa is deeply rooted in jazz, soul, African rhythms, go-go and house music, so the emphasis is on feeling and movement. They want to make you think, but while you’re dancing. Consider Jamal Grey to be the creative director of Nag Champa. He produces the tracks that develop into the songs that Nag Champa performs.

“The brainchild of Jamal Gray, Nag Champa is the type of next-level art that feels instantly familiar and utterly progressive simultaneously. Jamal and a rotating cast of musicians meld electronics that would seem at home in LA’s beat scene, with instrumental rhythms that could ONLY come from The District, creating a sound and vibe DC should be proud of.” - Bryan Gerhart, DCMusicDownload.com.
