Student Killed In Renaissance Academy Stabbing: Police

A teen died Sunday night from a stabbing that occurred at a city school last month, Baltimore Police report.

Ananias Jolley, 17, of the 1000 block of Druid Hill Avenue, was stabbed at Renaissance Academy, where he was a junior, according to police.

The teen had been in class on the third floor of the school building in the 1300 block of McCulloh Street when a sophomore went into the classroom and stabbed him at approximately noon on Tuesday, Nov. 24, police reported.

Donte Crawford, 17, of the 800 block of Vine Street, was charged with attempted murder in the incident.

Police said Sunday that investigators are collaborating with the state’s attorney’s office to file additional charges now that the victim has died. Crawford remains in police custody, officials reported.

“It’s a tragedy anytime we have someone killed in an act of violence, even moreso when it’s a child. The fact that it happened inside of a school is even more disturbing,” Baltimore Police spokesman T.J. Smith said. “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and the students who had to witness such a horrible event.”
