Suspicious Package Near Hopkins Deemed Safe: Police

Baltimore Police investigated a package near statue off University Parkway at Charles Street Saturday.

Police deemed safe items that were reported as “suspicious packages” in Charles Village on Saturday.

Baltimore Police said that packages located at the base of the statue at University Parkway and Charles Street turned out to contain paper and a bottle of water.

Officials had cleared the scene and the area had reopened to traffic, police reported at 3 p.m.

The investigation had been going on since the early afternoon, according to Johns Hopkins University officials, who advised avoiding the area after 12:15 p.m. due to police activity near the Homewood campus.
