FBI Says Chevy Chase Bank Robber Struck Again Last Week

The FBI says a man who robbed a bank on Connecticut Avenue last Wednesday is believed to be the same person who robbed a nearby Chevy Chase, Md. bank on Jan. 13.

On Wednesday, Jan. 29, at approximately 4 p.m., an unknown male entered the Capital One Bank located at 5714 Connecticut Ave., in Washington, D.C. The subject approached a teller, presented a demand note threatening a gun and demanded money.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the subject fled the bank on foot. This subject is believed to be the same subject responsible for a bank robbery on Monday, Jan. 13, at the Bank of America located at 4411 South Park Avenue in Chevy Chase, Md.

DESCRIPTION: The subject is described as a black male, age 25-30, 5'7" to 5'9" tall, with a medium build. He is described as having worn a black hooded sweatshirt with “Nike” written in grey across the front, a black winter hat with fur lining and ear flaps, large framed glasses, and dark colored pants and shoes.

The bank robbery Wednesday was one of three in a string of local bank robberies that occurred last week:

On Friday, at 6:36 p.m., an unknown male entered the TD Bank located at 1611 Wisconsin Ave., NW, in Washington, D.C. The subject approached a teller, presented a note threatening that he had a gun and demanding money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the subject fled the bank on foot, heading south on Wisconsin Avenue and then east on Q Street.

DESCRIPTION: The subject was described as a black male, with a medium build and facial hair. He was described as wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with another black hooded sweatshirt underneath, a black winter hat and blue jeans.

• On Monday, at approximately 6:40 p.m., an unknown male entered the TD Bank located at 901 7th Street NW, in Washington, D.C. The subject approached a teller, presented a note demanding money and motioned as if he was holding a weapon under his coat. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the subject fled the bank on foot.

REWARD

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the bank robber in each robbery.
