• With auto thefts on the rise, five license plate readers are vandalized in MoCo (bethesdamagazine.com) — Auto thefts are surging in Montgomery County, and police data show the Sixth District—which includes parts of North Potomac—is one of three hotspots for reported cases this year. With more than 1,700 thefts countywide and juveniles heavily involved, police are relying on automated license plate readers, even as several cameras were recently vandalized, and are urging residents to use steering wheel locks and other precautions.
