Authorities have not released the name of either shooting victim, or the suspected shooter, who is in custody. Preliminarily it appears it the shootings could have been self-defense, says police spokesman Lt. Ryan Frashure, but that decision must be made by the state’s attorney.
Investigators believe both men were shot at another residence in the 7600 block of Sandy Farm Road during a confrontation with a resident at that location.
The pair fled after they were shot, with one man forcing his way into the second residence as he sought help for his wound, which prompted the initial call to police. The man found in the pick-up truck apparently tried o drive out of the area before dying from his injuries.
Several witnesses spoke to homicide detectives and police on Sunday evening were executing search warrants to collect evidence.
A police department release says the shootings were an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will conduct autopsies on the dead men to determine the exact cause and manner of their deaths.
The victims’ names will be released pending positive identification and notification of their relatives, police said.
These two deaths mark the seventh and eighth homicides for Anne Arundel County this year.
