$20K Reward for Leads in Murder of Mother, Soldier

SEVERN, MD — With Thursday’s six-month anniversary of the murder of mother and soldier Karlyn Serane Ramirez, authorities have announced a reward for leads in the case.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department and the United States Army Criminal Investigation Command are offering a $20,000 reward for anyone who has information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects responsible for Ramirez’s murder. Authorities will hold a press conference Tuesday to update the public on the case.

Ramirez, 24, was found shot to death in her Severn home Aug. 25, with her 5-month-old daughter, Kattaleya Vale Kearny, unharmed beside her.
She is also survived by her husband, Maliek Kearney, a master sergeant in the Army. Police told the Capital-Gazette Kearney answered questions from detectives following his wife’s death.

Officers found Ramirez’ body after a neighbor reported the door to her home open in the 8000 block of Millstone Court. He received no response when he called to her, which he thought suspicious, and called police.
Ramirez died from multiple gunshot wounds and the case is a homicide.
There has been no information released by police about a possible suspect in the case.
