5 Abandoned Dogs Rescued; Sixth Found Frozen to Ground
Anne Arundel County Police say the Freeport community helped in the investigation. The animals' owners are being sought.

Five malnourished pit bulls were found abandoned and chained to posts in a wooded area, while a dead dog was found frozen to the ground in a wooded area of Glen Burnie, according to police.
The Anne Arundel County Police Gang Unit and detectives worked with the Freetown Community to develop information and execute a search warrant Friday morning in the 7800 block of Freetown Road in Glen Burnie.

Detectives discovered five pit bulls in the wooded area, most of which were malnourished. Authorities say the dogs were tethered and chained to posts with no food or water. The deceased dog was found to be frozen to the ground.
Anne Arundel County Animal Control Officers removed the animals to provide food, water and shelter. The five surviving dogs range in age from 10 months to 4 years old.

The dogs are not available for adoption because of their circumstances and health. If Animal Control determines the dogs are candidates for adoption, they will work with rescue partners on their placement.
While the dogs had shelters, they were not provided with adequate food, water or bedding to sustain their health as required by law, authorities said.
