ODENTON-SEVERN, MD — Three people were arrested Saturday after being involved in a shooting at Arundel Mills Mall in Hanover.

At a news conference, Justin Mulcahy, of the Anne Arundel County Police Department, said officials were alerted to the shooting at about 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Mulcahy said that the man pulled out a handgun, which discharged during a struggle. One of the people who approached the man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to their wrist during the altercation.

After the shooting, the group fled the scene in a black Nissan Altima that the police's Real-Time Information Center subsequently tracked to Interstate 97 in the Glen Burnie area. Investigators followed the car until it crashed in Baltimore County, just off Interstate 695.

The three individuals who were in the car fled on foot but were later apprehended by police. Aside from the one individual who suffered an injury to their wrist in the earlier shooting, the two others had non-life-threatening injuries from the car crash.

One officer with the Anne Arundel Police Department suffered a non-life-threatening injury in a crash during the pursuit, according to Mulcahy. They were later treated at a hospital.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

Mulcahy said a motive has not been identified, and it remains unknown whether the individuals knew the man.

The mall has since resumed normal operations. Police said there was no further threat to the area.
