Bus Driver Shot On Baltimore-Washington Parkway: Police

A tour bus driver was shot on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, police said. His 10 passengers were not hurt, troopers added.

HANOVER, MD — Police said a tour bus driver was shot Tuesday while passing through Hanover. Medics took the injured driver to an unnamed hospital, an incident report noted. None of his 10 passengers were hurt, officers clarified.

Troopers added that another driver fired the shots around 2:45 a.m. on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, also known as Maryland Route 295, near Interstate 195. Authorities mentioned that the struck, but surviving, driver then pulled over near Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in Linthicum.

The write-up did not specify a motive for the shooting. Officers have not yet identified a suspect or made an arrest, the press release shared. Detectives asked anybody with information to call (410) 761-5130.

The Maryland State Police Glen Burnie Barrack informed that it shut down the parkway around Nursery Road to process the crime scene. Officials explained that they moved the bus to a secured location while the investigation continues. Troopers indicated that they got assistance from the:

  • Maryland Transportation Authority Police
  • Anne Arundel County Police Department
  • Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration
