Construction Accident in Jessup Burns Worker

A 36-year-old man was taken to the hospital with burns on 30 percent of his body after an accident at a construction site in Jessup this afternoon, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Chief Michael Cox. 

The man was cutting a pipe at a construction site off of National Business Parkway at around 4:40 p.m. on Friday. The sparks from the saw ignited something on the ground at the site that had been exposed to oil, also catching the man's clothing on fire, according to Cox. 

He was taken to the burn unit at Johns Hopkins with serious but non-life threatening burns.
