LAUREL, MD — Police said a Hyattsville driver sped away from a Laurel traffic stop Friday and hit two vehicles. Officers reported arresting him after a foot chase on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, also known as Maryland Route 295. Authorities identified the suspect as 39-year-old Patrick Malia Yansane and mentioned that he had an outstanding arrest warrant.

Officials noted that they stopped the blue Chevrolet Malibu around 11:55 a.m. near Laurel Fort Meade Road and Russett Green East. The driver then fled and ran a red light before the crash, police added. Officers explained that the motorist left his car, starting the foot chase.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department informed that it found Yansane with a .40-caliber Beretta PX4 Storm handgun loaded with 15 bullets.
