Public Hearing on Redistricting

Anne Arundel County residents can voice their opinions on the topic of redistricting.

The Anne Arundel County Charter Revision Commission will hold its second public hearing on Monday, July 25, 2011, at 7 p.m. in the County Council chambers at the Arundel Center.

Every 10 years, in the year after the last U.S. Census, the Anne Arundel County Council appoints an Anne Arundel County Charter Review Commission to evaluate the makeup of the County Council districts and recommend to the County Council any necessary adjustments to district boundaries.

The Commission is considering changes to the boundaries of the County Council districts to reflect the 2010 census figures. Since the last census, County Council Districts 1 and 4 have had significant changes in the size of their population.

The Commission encourages the public to attend and participate in the hearing process. Residents will be recognized for up to three minutes to provide testimony to the Commission.
