Family Dispute Leads To Shooting, Assault Charges
A family dispute in Odenton escalated into an assault and shooting early Tuesday, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
ODENTON-SEVERN, MD — A man is facing assault and theft charges after police say he stole an item from his mother during an early Tuesday altercation.
In a release, the Anne Arundel County Police Department said officers responded to the 400 block of Lisa Avenue in Odenton for a family violence call at approximately 5 a.m.
At the scene, police found that a man had stolen a "personal item" from his mother and that an altercation broke out after he was confronted about the theft.

Justin Mulcahy, a spokesperson with the police department, told Patch that the 25-year-old man had punched his mother. It is not known whether the stolen item was recovered.
A call to the police was made by the man's stepfather, whom he subsequently approached with a knife. The stepfather countered the threat with a handgun that was used to shoot the stepson.

The stepson was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries. Police did not detail the severity of the gunshot wound.
The son is facing first- and second-degree assault and theft. Police said he will not be identified until the warrant they obtained is served.
