Gambrills Brothers Charged with 2013 Murder of Odenton Man
Shar-Ron Charles Mason, 19, died in December in his home on Chapelview Drive from gunshot wounds to the upper body. Two Gambrills brothers were arrested Friday for his death.
Two Gambrills brothers have been charged with the December 2013 shooting death of an Odenton man who had argued earlier with the elder brother, according to Anne Arundel County Police.
Shar-Ron Charles Mason, 19, died Dec. 10, 2013, from gunshot wounds at his house in the 1300 block of Chapelview Drive in Odenton. Witnesses reported seeing a black man in his mid 20s, wearing a blue coat and jeans, running from the scene.
Homicide detectives working on the case say that Mason and Bashunn Christopher Phillips, 20, of 2542 Maytime Drive in Gambrills, knew each other. The pair reportedly argued in October of 2013, and Bashunn Phillips was awaiting a court date for charges filed against him from the altercation, police said. Mason’s murder occurred weeks before the case was supposed to go to trial.

On July 18, an Anne Arundel County grand jury indicted Phillips and his younger brother, Tymaine Kenard Phillips, 17, also of 2542 Maytime Drive in Gambrills, for the Mason’s murder.
Bashunn Phillips is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, manslaughter, use of a firearm in a felony, use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence, and carrying a handgun.

Tymaine Phillips is charged as an adult with carrying a handgun and accessory after the fact. Police say that the brothers hid evidence of their crime from authorities.
Police took Tymaine Phillips into custody Friday without incident in the 2600 block of Chapel Lake Drive in Gambrills. Bashunn Phillips was already incarcerated on unrelated weapon offenses at the Anne Arundel County Ordnance Road Detention Center, and was served with an arrest warrant.
Even though arrests have been made, anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Detective Jack Hartzell of the Homicide Unit at 410-222-3566.
“These arrests send a strong message that our Police Department is committed to bringing violent criminals to justice,” said Anne Arundel County Police Chief Kevin Davis. “Our detectives worked relentlessly on this case, and while there is more work to be done in the community, we want the residents of Chapelgate who were shaken by this crime to know that their Police Department is invested in the safety of our community.”
