Fire Burns Gambrills Home, Draws Dozens Of Firefighters: Photos

A house fire burned a Gambrills home on Thursday. Patch did not observe any injuries, but dozens of firefighters came to the scene.

GAMBRILLS, MD — A Gambrills home near Annapolis Road and Dairy Farm Road caught fire Thursday afternoon.

Anne Arundel County firefighters arrived around 4 p.m. A Patch editor at the scene initially saw smoke coming through the windows and the roof. The smoke subsided by 4:45 p.m.

The worst of the damage was in the back of the home, where the siding burned off and the interior was charred.

Authorities have not yet commented on the cause of the fire or the estimated dollar loss. There was not a fire department spokesperson available while Patch was on the scene.

About a dozen fire trucks shut down Annapolis Road between Sappington Station Road and Gambrills Road. Most left the area by 5:3o p.m.

Multiple civilians were seen standing outside the house. Crews evaluated at least one person for possible injuries, but Patch did not see anybody taken from the scene in an ambulance.

Sheri Morgan lives nearby. She was outside gardening when she heard sirens pass.

"There was a lot of very dark smoke," Morgan told Patch. "That was early on and then it started to turn pink."
