Gambrills Man Arrested On Child Pornography Charges

State investigators say a Gambrills man had multiple files on his computer that were images of child pornography.

GAMBRILLS, MD – A Gambrills man was arrested Thursday morning at his home on charges that he possessed and distributed child pornography, according to Maryland State Police.

Curtis F. Hughes, 58, of Gambrills, is charged with one count of distribution of child pornography and three counts of possession of child pornography. He was taken to the Anne Arundel County Detention Center for an initial appearance before a court commissioner.

In March 2016, a detective with the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office forwarded a case to the Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The detective had been conducting a child pornography investigation online when he identified an Internet provider address in Gambrills that distributed child pornography.

A search warrant was served Thursday morning at Hughes' residence by members of the Maryland State Police, Anne Arundel County Police, and Homeland Security Investigations.

Hughes was home when the warrant was served and investigators took custody of computer equipment he uses. An initial forensic analysis of a desktop computer turned up multiple files associated with child pornography, investigators say. Hughes was arrested without incident for possession and distribution of child pornography.
