Get More Out of Martial Arts

Warriors of Grace is a faith based Karate school. To owner Tony Ferrer this means offering his students more than Karate.

Martial arts in general and Karate in particular are well known activities for helping children and adults become more focused, learn self-control, become stronger, and learn humility. While many children and even adults are keen to sign up for martial arts to learn to fight or to defend themselves, they gain much more through the practice.

At Warriors of Grace Karate School, owner Tony Ferrer strives to give his students more. As a faith based Karate school, it is Ferrer's goal to offer his students more.

Each week the student's gather for a "Mat Chat" where they discuss a big lesson for the month divided into smaller lessons for each week. These lessons help them understand the choices they are making on a daily basis and how each choice adds up to a whole. The idea behind these lessons is to help them develop a moral compass that they will carry throughout their lives.

When you enter Warriors of Grace, you will notice a special courtesy held by students and teachers alike. Students remove their shoes and place them neatly in cubby holes. They sit with their parents completing homework or talking quietly. There is no unruly behavior as students wait for their classes to begin. And the respect they show every adult is instilled in them each time they enter the dojo.

This does not mean student do not have fun. Ferrer Sensei is a big believer in students enjoying their time at the school. If they have fun they will look forward to returning for their next lesson. During class instructors play music for some drills and make the lessons interesting for each age group.

Warriors of Grace Karate is more than a business for Ferrer. It is a mission. He believes that he, through Karate, can help children and adults find their true identity, not just the person they want to be but the person they were born to be.

When choosing a martial arts school, whether you are an adult or you are choosing it for your child, it is important that you visit the school. See how they handle your child's age group. Talk to other students and/or parents.
