Hanover Parking Spot Dispute Leads To Assault With A Knife

An argument between two men regarding how one of them parked in a lot in Hanover escalated when one man pulled out a knife.

HANOVER, MD — A 25-year-old man threatened a 28-year-old man with a knife after they argued over a parking spot. Anne Arundel County police officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Dorsey Road at approximately 5 p.m. Jan. 24 after receiving reports of a person with a knife.

According to police, the suspect, Jawaan Isaiah Johnson, became agitated, grabbed the victim’s phone and threw it on the ground, damaging it. Police said Johnson then retrieved a knife from his vehicle and used it to threaten the victim who was able to escape and call for help. Johnson was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree assault and malicious destruction of property valued under $1,000. No one was injured.
