Halloween Sees 2 Arrests On MD Rt. 3: Police Report
A car occupied by two Prince George's County residents stopped in the middle of Crain Highway on Saturday. Police arrested both travelers.

CROFTON, MD — A car stopped in the middle of Maryland Route 3 near Davidsonville Road early Saturday morning. The disruption drew police to the Crofton scene around 5:45 a.m. Officers say the driver seemed impaired and failed several sobriety tests.
Police searched the car and found a loaded .40-caliber Glock 27 handgun, a report notes. The Anne Arundel County Police Department arrested the driver, Nathan William Jones Jr. of Glenarden, and his passenger, Vanessa Elayne Edmonds of Bowie.
Jones, 30, and Edmonds, 28, are charged with the following four misdemeanors:

- Having a handgun on their persons
- Carrying a loaded gun on themselves
- Possessing a loaded handgun in their vehicle
- Traveling with a loaded gun in their car
Neither Jones nor Edmonds face charges related to drug or alcohol impairment. The police report does not mention whether police examined either person's blood alcohol levels or administered a drug test.
Court records, however, show that a chemist or breath technician was requested in both cases. It is not clear who asked for this follow-up.

Jones and Edmonds were released on recognizance. Their trials are scheduled for March 9, 2021.
