High's Store, Gas Station Proposed for Annapolis Road

The new gas station and car wash would be near Charter Oaks Boulevard, at a now-vacant site of a former Chinese restaurant.

High's Dairy Stores next week will propose building a new gas station, car wash and convenience store at the corner of Annapolis Road and Charter Oaks Boulevard.

The new store would fill a plot of land that has been vacant for more than a year, ever since the demolition of a former Chinese restaurant on the site.

The landowner, , struck a deal with High's after a similar proposal with BP gas stations fell through.

High's would bring another hybrid convenience/gas station location to Odenton, similar to the Royal Farms store at the corner of Annapolis Road and Blue Water Boulevard.

Other items on Tuesday's oversight committee agenda include:

  • Matt Harrell, a representative of the Maryland State Highway Administration, will give an update on the timeline for road and intersection improvements on Annapolis Road in front of Fort Meade and into Odenton.
  • Sally Shoemaker of the Odenton Heritage Society will give a presentation discussing the in the Odenton Town Center Master Plan.
  • Steve Horne of Elm Street Development will present the near the intersection of North Patuxent Road and Becknel Avenue. The committee could hold a final vote on whether to recommend the plan.

The committee will meet on Tuesday, July 31 at 6:30 p.m. at the Western District Police station at 8273 Telegraph Rd., Odenton. The meeting is open to the public and there will be time set aside for public comment.
