High School Student Charged in 16 Vehicle Vandalism Cases

A North County High School student has been charged in connection with a wave of broken vehicle windows in the Linthicum area.

A high school student has been charged with a wave of vandalism in the Linthicum area after 16 residents reported their car windows were broken.

Anne Arundel County Police received 16 different calls Dec. 7 about windows that were smashed out or shot out with a BB gun. One of the victims gave police a video that showed several possible suspects -- likely teenagers -- and their vehicles.

Officers searched for the suspect vehicle in the parking lots of area high schools. While checking the parking lot of North County High School in Glen Burnie, officers found a possible suspect vehicle they believed was likely involved in the vandalism cases.

Several loose BB pellets were reportedly found on the front driver’s seat and a BB rifle lay on the front passenger side floorboard.

Working with school resource officers, Anne Arundel County Police identified the driver of the suspect vehicle as a 17-year-old boy from North County High School.

He was charged as a juvenile with 16 counts of destruction of property and released to his parents. When detectives searched the vehicle they recovered evidence linking the suspect to the vandalism, police say.
