Police say the man was crossing a Severna Park road outside a crosswalk at night when he was struck and killed by a Millersville driver.

SEVERNA PARK, MD — A homeless man was fatally hit by a car while he was crossing a Severna Park road Monday night, say police.

Investigators say a Toyota Corolla driven by Willard F. Passauer II, 63, of Millersville, was eastbound on Earleigh Heights Road W. when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway just before the Truck House Road intersection. The accident happened shortly after 7 p.m.

The pedestrian, identified as Robert Lee Dehn, 51, of no fixed address, was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The occupants of the Toyota were not injured.

Investigators said Tuesday it appears Dehn did not yield to vehicles while crossing the road outside a crosswalk. Darkness and limited street lighting may also have contributed to the accident.
